Arriving on Time : Completion Deadline

You've assembled some of the smartest minds in diversified areas of expertise for your new new project that can be anywhere from a few $100,000 to several millions of dollars. But, I'm here to tell you, without the right Site Contractor or General Contractor making the right choices on the ground, arriving at the completion deadline on time AND on budget may be VERY difficult. The investment required for new projects from the ground up is too valuable to jeopardize with an ineffective contractor.

Many people equate action with speed of completion, but without a coordinated plan and sequence, speed alone won't deliver the desired results. Owning big equipment doesn't necessarily mean that a contractor can think, see and plan ahead any more than sitting in the front of a train makes one a conductor. A competent site contractor has proven experience verified by delighted clients. They understand the importance of creating a work plan before the job even starts, communicating, wait let me say that again communicating, it in advance (proactive) and coordinating with other trades.

I've been a Software Engineer for many years and yet, my first residential retail revitalization project was a quick lesson on why I factor in hiring a Project Manager, General Contractor or Site Contractor into every deal. My realtor on that project, said "Great Job, but your project had no rhythm, no orderly sequence." That was a trigger that turned my project success around dramatically.

In short, the highest risk line-item on industrial, warehouse, residential and commercial construction projects can be greatly reduced by partnering with a strong site contractor who evaluates and manages risks, plans the project before it starts and communicates openly.

I'd like to thank and give credit to Mr. Keith A. Brubacher, Brubacher Excavating, Inc for his article in the Mid Atlantic Real Estate Journal for the inspiration of this post.
