Who do you love?

I have a question for my fellow landlords. Don't all answer at once. Outside of yourself, who plays the most important role in your business? To put it another way, who do you need to keep happy?  Is it your maintenance man? We all know the value of a reliable maintenance person/staff. Especially on  Friday night when I'm sitting on a patio and  a service call comes in. Is it that tenant the never complains and always pays rent by the first of the month? I do love the way they keep the yard up. And that flower bed they installed looks awesome.

I will agree that those folks do make my life easier. I might lose a little sleep if I lost either of them. To me, however, the people that play the most vital role in my business are my INVESTORS! You see, I am in the business of growing my business. I simply can't do that without the people that allow me to buy more property.

Before I go any further, I should clarify exactly who I mean  when I say "investors". I'm not addressing bankers. If you've accumulated any number of properties you know how difficult it is to borrow from a bank. I'm also not talking about the lenders advertizing at your local REIA meeting.  I don't want anyone involved in my business getting a better return than I do. I'm talking about regular folks. People who are disappointed in the returns they are receiving from their IRA and savings. These are the people that I can help and that can help me. What's that called?.......Oh yeah.......a WIN/WIN relationship!

The purpose of this blog going forward, will be to highlight the things that I do on a daily basis to improve and grow my business. By staying focused on these goals  I am guaranteeing my investors are getting the results that I have promised and they  have come to expect.  Stay tuned. It might be fun!

  1. Jake Meeks if you run out of your own ideas, then consider finding a good article and giving us your take on it. Book reviews are also helpful. We are all short on time so if you can turn a book/article into bullet points then I'll be your faithful reader.

  2. Jake Meeks Hey I'll follow along.

    1. Thanks Al. Hope I can come up with something intelligent to say!
