Learning Curve

Hello All!

As the process continues to becoming a successful RE Agent in a busy Upstate New York market, I often find myself thinking, "There is so much to learn!" It is true, I have a lot of information coming at me and can only comprehend so much. Luckily, I have the privilege of working as the Transaction Coordinator with The Updegraff Group, and that has lead to an opportunity to learn the "behind the scenes" information before being thrown to the wolves. A few other ways that I spend my time to become more familiar is every Sunday I spend a few hours going to Open Houses in the area. Meeting other agents, getting a feel for properties, areas, and list prices, not to mention it is just fun!

As things keep progressing, I definitely am feeling like a little fish in a big pond. Rochester is not a huge city, but with all of the other agents, and brokerages, it makes it tough to stand out. I am sure I am not the only agent to feel like this, I would bet that their are agents out there with years of experience trying to break into the "Big League." Of course their are business that put your picture to the top of the list, but a person with no reviews, and limited content is not going to experience success from this promotion, more likely that promotion is going to let people know how lame your are.

So the goal is getting that first client. The technique is to bug all my family and friends so that by word of mouth someone will think of me when they are ready to buy a home. It is still very early in the game, and I know I am doing the right things. So for now, I am going to go to more open houses, blog like a mad man, and keep watching HGTV.

I know this post was a little fluffy so here is a joke to make it worth while:

What's the difference between a real estate agent and an accountant?

The accountant knows he is boring.
