Finding a Realtor that Understands Real Estate Investors

realtor

The relationship between real estate investors and realtors was somewhat inevitable. It is the same industry after all — but investors and agents needn’t be at odds. Realtors can be an invaluable resource for investors. They can help you find leads, make good decisions and push your investments to the next level...if they know what they’re talking about.

Most real estate agents will jump at the chance to help you invest whether or not they have the chops to really do it well. Few agents actually invest in real estate themselves and actually know the ins and outs of the business.

It’s always good to have a realtor in your corner, but you have to make sure it’s the right realtor.

3 Keys to Findings the Right Realtor for Investing in Real Estate

Network with Other Investors

Your network of support can make or break you as a real estate investor. Whether you’re on your own or working with a team, communicating with and building up good relationships with other investors is key. Swap stories, build a rapport, trade advice and industry news. When you have a network of investors to connect with, you can more readily track down recommendations for an investment-friendly realtor. They can offer insight on reputation and quality, or even be investors themselves while also being realtors.

Ask the Right Questions

Working with realtors who don’t understand real estate investment like you do can be an absolute nightmare. Before you partner up, you have to ask the right questions. Talk nitty-gritty specifics like how many deals they make in a year and what certifications they have down to less concrete concepts — what value to they add for investors, do that try to learn about the industry on a consistent basis, how do they approach a deal?

Ask them if they invest or have worked with other real estate investors. You want somebody who knows your world.

Value Good Qualities

As always, integrity should be the cornerstone of any business. When you choose to start working with realtors, you have to be careful of your partnership. Just like hand-picking a trustworthy team, you want someone you trust and respect working with you. Skip the sharks and go for realtors that conduct themselves with honesty and integrity. There’s no training or experience that can make someone unethical ethical. Don’t risk your reputation for the promise of good returns — only work with real estate agents that you trust and respect. It’ll protect your business as well as your reputation.
