The Beauty of Dreams

In the past 6 months since my last post, I have worked extremely hard to immerse myself in the Real Estate community. Networking with seasoned professionals from Bigger Pockets and LinkedIn have opened up doors for me that I could have never imagined possible in this short period of time.

The more steps I take in the direction of having my own Real Estate business, the more I have encountered the question from friends, family, and mentors alike about what my goals are. I struggle extremely hard with how to answer this question because the truth is, it would be hard for almost any of them to understand.

I hang a quote in my office that says "If your dreams don't scare you they aren't big enough". I can truly say that the feeling for me isn't fear per say, but a hybrid of excitement and fear. I think this quote is truly inspirational, but at the same time it begs the question. Why would someones dreams scare them? For a lot of people this stems from a fear of never achieving them.

I have set myself on a path of unrelenting will, where I approach every day as if it will offer the breakthrough I am looking for to further my journey. So fear for me is from the notion that with limitless possibilities, what one single being is truly capable of doing. This idea of "greatness" in all of us and the ability to realize the inherent gift that each human is given. The nature of infinity itself is fearful because the uncertainty of how much limitlessness is possible in a human lifetime is unknown outside of certain precedents set by those before us.

There are only a handful of people that I have shared even a glimpse into what my dreams are. And by glimpse, I do not mean to imply quantifying my career dreams to a number. The truth is that I would never even attempt to quantify the goal of a dream to a number, because by doing this, you are inherently limiting the limitless nature of humanity.

I can however boil down my goals into 2 major buckets; family & friends and humanity. The first is simple. In this short time we inhabit earth, the most cherished moments for me will always be experiences shared with close family and friends. Being able to facilitate these moments where "love is in the air" and creating experiences for people that few would have imagined possible.

The second goal is one that has evolved quite a bit recently in my life. I have always had dreams of philanthropy and being able to truly better humanity. While I never knew exactly how to explain it, I had what I considered a somewhat radical view on how one person could truly impact the world. My feelings were that while there are certainly many people "bettering the world" working as doctors or for non profits, there was another level to furthering humanity by being able to create opportunities for others who have the drive and passion to better humanity, but may not have the means or resources to do this on their own. By having the means to create opportunities that did not previously exist for others to further humanity, you are essentially multiplying the impact that one person can have on history. The revolution for me truly came after hearing Haseeb Qureshi, another very philosophical individual speak about his belief in Effective Altruism. The idea of being able to fund large amounts of individuals trying to start "high impact" non profits, that donate generous percents of fund-raised capital to areas of the world that have the biggest need for outside support and influence. This has quickly become a goal I am fixated on. A "shark tank" type system for individuals to pitch their high impact non profits that meet a certain criteria and receive full funding and support.

If there is one inspirational quote that I could originate and be remembered by it would be  "Dreams are only dreams unless you take steps to make them a reality". I will be remembered as both an inspirational dreamer, and someone who proved that with hard work and unrelenting will, we all are truly limitless.
