From Alaska to Ohio...Long Distance Investing!

While searching for fixer uppers in the mls from home a couple of weeks ago, my phone began to buzz. The number was strange, beginning with a 907, and my phone showed the call was from Alaska. I work with tons of investors from all over the United States, but never one from Alaska. As I reached to pick up my phone I pondered the thought of renting igloos to Eskimos, and if there was such thing as “Global Warming Insurance,” but that thought quickly disappeared as our conversation began. This investor was looking to make BIG moves in my market (Youngstown, Ohio) and was looking for my help.

Our company, Rust Belt Rentals, assisted the investor in paying off a 100000k note, landed a deal with a 14 unit distressed multi-family complex, and planned the entire rehab (in a week). We are determined to make this complex a ridiculously high performing asset withen 6 months for our Alaskan investor.

As our Alaskan journey continues, so will my posts on biggerpockets. These past couple years of real estate investing and property management have been insane. I have learned so many lessons, tips, hacks, and facts of life that I feel it is time to start posting and sharing my crazy stories.

If you have ever considered purchasing rental properties in other markets, the Mahoning Valley and Northeast Ohio is booming with potential. Our business, Rust Belt Rentals, has opportunities for investors small (30k) to big (500K) Don’t be afraid to reach out, I love meeting new people! At Rust Belt Rentals, we have a passion for profit, and whether you are from California, Alaska or right here from the great state of Ohio we will always work hard and with integrity and for the benefit of the both of us!

Have you ever made deals with people from awesome places? What is your experience with long distance real estate investing? Please share your thoughts and stories!
