Introduction

"This is the day the Lord has made; let US rejoice and be glad in it." -Psalm 118:24

I have lived a pretty good life to this day. I have no regrets or can't complain about where I've been or the things I've done in the past because, I would not be the person I am today without it. I do consider myself very lucky and very fortunate to be living in this day and age.

I was born into poverty in the Philippines. When I was four or five years old my mother remarried an American who was in the US Airforce and brought us to the United States after a couple years. Leaving my biological father and sister there wasn't anything I thought about at that age, but I'm glad it wasn't the last time I saw them. I still know who and where they are today.

I've moved around through most of my childhood and continue to do so as fate would allow. So from the Philippines to Different parts of North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Oregon, and Hawaii so far. Maybe that explains the reason I don't mind change as much as other people.

My mother is the biggest influence in my life and has raised me to be strong and think independently, to be responsible and strive for success. Like most parents she told me to go to school, make good grades so you can get into college to get a good job with benefits. Climb the corporate ladder and have security then retire and enjoy life.

At the age of thirty-two I was working for Intel Corp. in Oregon being successful and had everything people wanted in life. Well at least the people I was around including my family. I knew I was where I was told to be; meaning being told from my Mom, my teachers, and my peers. Although I worked hard to get to where I needed to be, I was not satified. Something in me telling there is something missing or I had another purpose. I just knew I didn't want to work for anyone anymore and I wanted to be in control of my own life.

Today I am turning to Page 1 of my new life. Let's see how the story goes.

  1. That's an incredible philosophy, Ray. In some communities, unfortunately, it is harder to drill that in than in others. Good luck with it all.

  2. Rick, I will learn as much as I can about REI to find my niche which is looking towards wholesaling along with buying and holding. The strategies I like are leaning towards sub2s and lease options for the fact that I have limited funds and credit. I am using real estate as a vehicle to get my financial goals in line to where I can eventually not worry about it. I also like real estate because I feel that I have the mind to solve problems. Further down the road I plan on creating other businesses that deal with the food and entertainment industry, and I plan to do some community projects as well. I do want to give back to my community and show others that their life doesn't have to be dictated by their surroundings. If you want to do something different with your life...Change it! -Ray

  3. Ray, Can you expand on how you would like to take control of in your life? Rick

  4. Thanks Josh, I will take advantage of all the great resources here at BP!

  5. Ray - Congrats on taking hold of your new life! It is always exciting to start something new, and I want to wish you good luck on your upcoming adventures in real estate. We'll be here to lend a hand if and when you need it! Josh
