Real Estate Investor since 2015, decided to get my license to be an Agent to supplement income and to provide a way to become a stronger investor. Robert began his real-estate journey nearly 20 years ago. It started with researching the industry, attending seminars, and working with mentors who took him under their wing. He bought his first rental property in 2015, and a second 6 months later. A rough patch as a new investor propelled him into a dual-career, supplementing his IT contractor salary with income as a real estate salesperson. He initially thought he’d use the real estate sales position to meet other investors and expand his network, but he fell in love with the joy that arrives on closing day for first-time buyers who are finally achieving their goal of homeownership. People want someone they can trust to get them through the stressful home-buying process, and Robert takes his work seriously in educating his clients and the agents he mentors on the benefits of homeownership. Real estate and homeownership are tools to generate equity, but they can also create long-term revenue streams and provide huge tax benefits. Approaching his third year in real estate sales, Robert has replaced his position as an IT contractor with being a full-time agent. He now supplements his income with his investments and a General Contracting business. It’s really important to Robert that his three sons grow up playing monopoly with real property and not just the board game.

I was born in Topeka and grew up in the small town of Auburn in southwestern Shawnee County and graduated from Washburn Rural High School. After receiving scholarship offers from the University of Colorado and Drake University in Iowa, I came to Manhattan to visit. I had been to Manhattan a few times for football games, but never really spent a great deal of time here, so I didn’t know what to expect. My parents and I stopped to go to Pizza Hut before our appointments on campus, and the moment I got out of the car I was overcome with a feeling that I was home. This is where I belonged. At K-State, I studied political science and worked at The Collegian, the award-winning student newspaper, ultimately serving as the Editor in Chief. It was at the Collegian where I met the woman who would become my wife, Katie Lane, a Manhattan High alum. After living in Wichita and Auburn for a few years — while sitting on the patio at Rock-A-Belly — we sort of impulsively decided we needed to move back to Manhattan. So, with our then 2 year-old twin daughters Grace & Claire in tow, we made Manhattan our permanent home in 2012 and haven’t looked back. In 2015, our family added Henry. The five of us live at Tuttle Creek lake and couldn’t be happier. I serve on the board of Konza United Way, Sunflower CASA and the Flint Hills Association of Realtors and am also honored to serve on the advisory board for the City of Manhattan Special Alcohol Fund, which determines how to allocate tax revenue from the sale of alcohol in bars and restaurants to programs working in treatment and prevention of drug and alcohol abuse. In my free time, I’m a German car enthusiast and love to care way too much about the Royals and K-State sports.

I am a licensed realtor, RE investor, and structural engineer and I am experienced buying and selling rentals, BRRRR, fix & flip, buy & hold, house hacking, 1031 exchanges, multi family, single family homes, commercial property, land deals, new builds, and most recently development. I have been investing in real estate for 20 years and became licensed 10 years ago to help others with buying and selling homes, and investment properties. With a 30 year career in engineering I love the numbers and evaluating properties. Including cost estimates for repairs, rental market evaluations, negotiating prices and contracts, and finding best lending options for wise financial decisions that best fit my clients overall plan and timeline. I started my real estate investing myself with flipping and the BRRRR method and built a portfolio of single family homes to create passive income. Since then I have diversified into other revenue streams including multi families, commercial property, vacation property and new builds. All of my investing is centered around both cash flow and long term appreciation and I continue to look at ways to scale up and leverage both personally and for my clients through 1031s, joint partnerships, etc. I focus on Net Worth over High Income as a long term goal and I teach classes about that as well as real estate investing strategies like the BRRRR method. I currently have a multi million dollar portfolio and am scaling up through 1031s, joint ventures, and development. I love to share what I learn with other avid investors and learn as much as I can from others based on their experience. I have systems for running my rentals, finding properties, as well as a strong network of investors, brokers, agents, and others to maximize options for finding properties for my clients both on and off market. I am also licensed in Florida and have been investing in vacation properties for 7 years in Southwest Florida along the Gulf Coast. I work with many builders and new developments to find opportunities for clients looking to retire, invest, or get a second home in sunny SW Florida!
