This is Desiree’s famous tagline. She has a passion for helping people find their perfect homes! As a top realtor who knows the ins and outs of the housing market, she has worked with buyers and sellers for more than 15 years.
Desiree's story began in her hometown of Trinidad and then Tobago in the Caribbean, where she grew up watching her parents work hard to provide for their family. Her father owned a hardware store, and this is where Desiree learned to interact with people at a young age.
Desiree moved to London, England, with her mother after her parents divorced. Desiree later moved to Dubai with her husband after they married. And in 1990 they moved to the United States. Since 2008, she has lived in Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun County.
Taking a Leap of Faith
Desiree began her career in the United States as a bank teller. She quickly rose through the ranks to being branch manager and was named branch manager of the year three times. If there is one thing you will quickly learn about Desiree, is that she never just puts in just 100%, she will always put in double or triple the effort.
That said, while working in the banking industry, Desiree always had the feeling that something was missing. It was her mom Issaaf, who works as a realtor in Lebanon, who encouraged Desiree to take the leap into real estate, which she did in 2009.
Desiree believes that you have to take chances if you want to get somewhere in life. “You have to feel uncomfortable to get comfortable,” she says. Working with Donny Samson and the team of over 5,000 agents at Samson Properties is where she found her second home.
Today, with 15 years’ experience as a realtor, Desiree is one of the most sought-after realtors in Northern Virginia with a great many favorable reviews to prove it! She has worked with clients from all over the world, and her international background allows her to understand the diverse needs and concerns of different cultures. Desiree is a realtor who believes in giving back to her community and making a difference. She is driven by a strong sense of purpose and is constantly looking for ways to give back. One such occasion was when she had the honor of assisting a schoolteacher with the purchase of a new home. Despite the teacher's difficult financial situation, Desiree understood how important it was for her to have a safe and comfortable place to call home. With this in mind, she made the selfless decision to forego her commission, providing the teacher with greater financial security and peace of mind. The real estate industry is very competitive and can be quite daunting, especially with the economic downturn currently being experienced. This is why Desiree makes it her business to keep up with industry experts on market trends and is constantly growing her business through repeat business as well as referrals.
Recently, Desiree was afforded the opportunity to spread her wings and break new ground in commercial real estate. She is confident that her hard work will pay off, and she is looking forward to continuing to grow her business in the months and years to come.
Desiree At Home
Desiree has three beautiful grandchildren from her son, Nick, and daughter-in-law, Dareen. Her eldest grandson, Elyas, turned three in March, and Juleen will be two in May. Desiree eagerly anticipates the birth of her third grandchild, a baby girl named Gianna, set to arrive in April 2023 - at the same time as the release of the Nova Real Producers magazine where she features in the Top Real Estate Agents for 2022 issue.
Desiree is also a mother to her two Westies – West Highland White Terriers. Chloe is seven years old, and Charly is one. She wishes to honor her beloved Westie, Oliver, who was featured in her last photo shoot with Nova Real Producers in 2019. Oliver sadly passed away suddenly at the age of seven in March 2021. As a passionate animal lover, Desiree is very involved in dog rescue initiatives, working tirelessly to save dogs in need.
Despite her demanding career, Desiree never forgets the importance of family – especially as a single mother. In her free time, Desiree loves to spend time cooking for her loved ones, creating delicious meals inspired by Lebanese cuisine. Her family and friends rave about her flavorful aromatic dishes and enjoy gathering around the table to enjoy her culinary creations. To Desiree, there is nothing more fulfilling than seeing her family and friends savor her food and enjoy time together.
Desiree also has a deep love for both dancing and music. Desiree would dance with her grandchildren while cradling them in her arms. This experience was not only a joy for her, but also a special bond that she shares with her grandkids. They love to dance and listen to music together, and these moments bring so much joy and laughter to their lives. For Desiree, there is nothing more special than watching her grandkids dance, knowing that she has helped foster their love for music and dance.
Other hobbies and interests include a love for water sports. Desiree is an accomplished skier – both on the water and the slopes. A beach vacation is her favorite type of getaway, and she revels in the opportunity to soak up the sun. In August, she is embarking on a Mediterranean cruise with her dear friend, and she is counting down the days.
As she looks ahead to the year 2023, Desiree is focused on maintaining a healthy work-life balance, as she recognizes the importance of making time for the things she loves and brings her fulfilment.
