Real estate industry in 2050?

I recently closed on a loan and the maturity date is in 2052 which got me thinking, what will the world look like in 2052?

We’re primarily buy and hold investors so the plan is to hold long term. I’m hearing / seeing people flock to the sunbelt for better weather but over the next 30 years do you think people will stay in the south or move back north? I’d imagine the cost of fresh water and food will continue to increase in price and I’m wondering if the Great Lakes region might make an attractive diversification to our long-term portfolio.. the central location and access to fresh water should make it an attractive place to live but winters can be a bit unwelcoming.

Has anyone else played the current economic and climate issues forward 30 years in their head? If so what assumptions are you using and what are you predicting over the long-term?
