Why Short Sales?

Somebody please tell me why a Rrealtor would show a short sale property? Other than commission, why would a Realtor take a short sale listing? I've been in real estate for over 15 years. There is no advantage to the seller who sells short. The banks are transfering all the liability to the agents and then do a poor job of completing the process. My office has 102 agents and none of us will show a short sale and most of us won't list one. The seller is stuck keeping their home in show condition for many months, jumping every time the bank says jump. For what? Let it foreclose, it takes 18 months or longer to complete the foreclosure process. A short sale damages the seller's credit just as bad as a foreclosure. I don't get it. What a pain in the rear. It's just a way for the banks to hold off the hit to the balance sheet and let someone else take on the liability. Some smart lawyer will figure out how to sue and the short sale agents will be in deep kaka.
