100% REMOTE RE JOB SEARCH
I'm looking for a job in Real Estate that is 100% remote!
Virtual assistant's, transaction coordinators, and??? Any one working in a remote role already that could shed some insight into the jobs and the work that is involved?
I will be moving back to the Kansas City, KS area in the near future so it would be awesome to connect with some one in that area.
Any tips would be super helpful!
I guess what is your goal? Yes, you could join a team and be part of the "cog" in their production system. So, you could use your Kansas license (with a Kansas-based team) so you can operate without restrictions. I'd think, however, if you plan on having the "ultimate" flexibility to hiking, etc. I'd think any job will have some restrictions. You need to be available to work to process the paperwork and usually to contact others to get / chase down paperwork, check up on transaction status, and basically what I would call "add value" to solve any issues with the transaction. Remember, the other agents are off converting leads, selling properties, etc. The transaction coordinators I've been involved with sort of "takeover" the transaction after the deal is in attorney review / under contract.
There are private lenders out there whose teams are entirely remote.
Regular loan officers are basically remote, but as an agent I think you are aware... Again, its sales so you need to be available...
Back to what sort of real estate... You could work for development companies, REIT's, etc which are more like office jobs.
I hope that helps.
My ultimate goal is to be a full-time Agent in Kansas City, working in the residential market helping people buy, sell, and invest in property. I would also like to learn more about investing and grow my portfolio.
So right now I am looking for basically an office job consisting of phone calls/computer work. I have the 24/7 availability and flexibility to work remotely, besides the occasional weekend hike where I might be without cell service for an hour or two.
I have minimal experience but I want to work and learn as much as I can to help me become a better Agent AND Investor!
What type of development companies, REITs? If that is office type work that may be a good thing for me to look into.
REITs are Real Estate Investment Trusts. They invest in real estate and are traded on the stock market. For a more "corporate" environment, that would be a way to go. Similarly would be commercial developers etc. that need staff.
Otherwise, as an agent you have some knowledge of the various agent teams. I suppose double check in your state how much you are allowed to assist. In NJ, unlicensed persons are very limited to what/how they can communicate to the public.
There are a variety of small lenders, some post regularly on BP, who teams are entirely remote.
Hey @Amy Larsen! I'd be available to talk with you about your ultimate goal of becoming a full-time Kansas City real estate professional. I was rookie of the year in my first year of business working as a dual career agent. Now I'm on a team (Thrive Real Estate KC) that still allows me to be a true independent agent and not a cog in a system. It's been a great fit for me and the other 16 agents on the team. There might transaction coordinating opportunities in the near future. We're always exploring ways to be better.
Hi Amy! Not sure what your interest might be in real estate, but mortgage processor is something that can be done 100% remotely. If you can get tied in with a few private lenders, they may be really happy to have someone who is consistent, attention to detail focused, and motivated to learn more about real estate. You will get to see transactions from the other side of the table, versus representing a buyer or seller in the transaction.

@Amy Larsen
What are your salary requirements? We are a fund aiding $75M and have a need for someone to do some admin work

Mortgage processor would be a good idea! Do you know if I would have to get any extra certification for such a role? And is it easy to find that type of job without previous experience in the mortgage industry?
Just wanted to follow up with everyone and say thank you for all the help, insight, and suggestions!
I received a rewarding remote role with ERC Specialists. Thanks especially to the help of @Bonnie Griffin Kaake for getting me started, I am lucky to have gained such a knowledgeable mentor! I'm excited to start assisting small business owners that were impacted by the Covid-19 Pandemic receive their Employee Retention Credits!
If you have any questions feel free to reach out, I would be more than happy to chat!
*SOME* loan mortgage officer jobs are remote. Sometimes they start office and are remote if you produce i.e. do well. They run the same risk as a real estate agent in that they are pretty much 100% commission based and you can lose your tail if you can't sell any product (product being the loan package). However, since everyone needs a house loan once they decide to purchase a house you know the buyer is far down the funnel of becoming a client. Additional downsides are they make a small fee per loan serviced and it's less than a real estate agent would make. My personal opinion is I'd rather be a real estate agent than a loan mortgage officer. There are a lot of people who rate shop in this economy, so there is that too. Sometimes you lose your leads when they go elsewhere and your hands are tied because you can only sell rates the bank you work for approves. All this info is coming from my cousin/her SO who I know who have done it for a few years.
Hi everyone, I am also looking for a 100% remote position and there are some great ideas on here (even being a year old post). Please DM if you have any other recommendations! Thanks!

I actually ended up in a National Account Executive Role with Cost Segregation Services, LLC shortly after I made this post! Which has been a great fit for me being 100% remote! I'll DM the details!
