AUSTRALIA REI SIMILAR?

Kalani Rouse

Hey everyone,

I live in Australia and I just want to gauge how many investors are over here doing well and what kind of strategy you are using. I am working as a sales rep (Just started in July) and a lot of the figures I'm running end up in negative cash flow. Need a guiding hand if anyone is kind enough!:)

Thank you in advance!!!

Hi Kalani

I am Australian and moved to the US 7 years ago. I have been investing in Australia since 2003. When I moved to the US I was surprised to find out property cash flows from day 1. I bought a renovated house in Philadelphia and lived in it for a year then moved out and rented it for positive cash flow. That is unheard of in Australia. Im a bit out of the loop in Australian real estate now but over there Negative Gearing used to be all the rage and people would say how good it was to reduce your tax bill (by losing money!!) but you make it up a few years after holding and paying out of pocket in the wild appreciation that Australia sees.
