best way for collage student to start out?

What's the best way for a full time college student, to learn more about realistate and the first steps to take? I'm very intrested in this field and want to learn as much as possible.

@Paul Higdon  welcome to the site.

Few things you can do to get started.

  • Go to school & earn a RE license.
  • Network with local investors.
  • Read all the good info here on BP.
  • Locate & purchase a rental property. If you currently do not own a home you can pick up a duplex with great financing terms & become a landlord with your first purchase.

First do not feel rushed. Second stay active on BP and attend local REI meet ups. Third figure out what aspect of REI you want to tackle. Forth learn to save money and be frugal, it will come into play and speed up what ever field of REI you want to approach. Protect and build your credit.

Right now I highly recommend you explore the forums (it may be overwhelming at first, no worries no rush!) and start soaking in the information it provides.

But a duplex

what benefits does a relaters license give me?

Learn to sacrifice. Don't give in when your friends may be getting nice houses, large mortgages, several kids. They are now STUCK. Be patient, be frugal and understand life doesn't end when your 30. Your twentys are a good time to make mistakes while trying to build wealth. Im 29 and finally getting in good position to start investing.

@Paul Higdon a realtor license will allow you access to properties without having to contact a realtor. Having a license is good but you 100% do not need it. Finding a good realtor that understands REI is more important at the moment. If you have interest in pursuing a career as a realtor it may be worth your while to obtain your license now and get that moving.
