When should i get a contractor?

@Account Closed you should look for SEVERAL good contractors before buying a house if you plan to do a major rehab (you may need to fire one in the middle of your project, then what?). In addition look for competent subs as well (plumbing, electrical, drywall, flooring, paint, etc.) before buying. You may or may not need a GC depending on the scope of the work. If it's light rehab you can manage it yourself (ie new flooring, paint, replacement of a few appliances, etc.), however if it's a major rehab you will need a GC. If you are using a PM to manage your property, they should have lots of referrals for you that they use.
