Agent Playbook for Posting on The BiggerPockets Forums
Hey agents!
Does anybody want some help posting in the forums? I know it can be daunting at first, but I think I might be able to help. Happy to share a content playbook I've made that shows you (with examples) how to build an attractive-looking profile, create engaging content, and a posting schedule that I believe is manageable.
It's easy to forget to post when we have so many other great resources (podcasts, blogs, calculators, etc.), and the truth is posting can be scary. I'm definitely guilty of not posting enough, but I've worked here for over a year now and have seen how powerful it can be!
Shoot me a message on BiggerPockets or use my email below, and I'll be sure to send it right away. Thanks, and happy investing!
My first appearance on the BiggerPockets podcast (Ep. 584) goes over a lot of what it takes to be successful in the forums. What you are suggesting or looking to get people to buy into is not going to work. What works in the forums is personal engagement and connectivity between investors. This is not a place where anyone should be creating "content"
@Jonathan Greene Maybe my phrasing was wrong with this one, so sorry if it came off the wrong way. What I think would be great is capturing that feedback from BiggerPockets users/agents like yourself, brainstorming what works/doesn't on the forums, and offering a guide to the folks who are just starting with us!
Going to listen to your EP. right now and see what I can learn, so thank you for sharing! It might've been premature to offer something when I still need to know more about the forums myself.
Our goal is to grow website traffic and boost our forum engagement. My role here pertains to helping agents get leads, and I believe our forums serve as an excellent medium for connecting with potential investor clients. Going to shoot you a PM and would love to connect with you and get your two cents on how best to promote forum activity to our real estate agent community.
If you rank all of the places to help agents get leads, this ain't it. BiggerPockets has its own system for that and will not want you trying to do that here in any way. The last thing you can do in the forums is to try to get leads, you will get banned in an instant. You don't need to promote forum activity on BP, it already exists.
@Jonathan Greene I think if agents follow your advice and come from a place of value, first, there won't be any issues. Nothing I recommend to agents includes them raising their hand in the forums and asking for business. If agents want leads, they can pay for them... if they want to know how they can contribute to the BiggerPockets community, they can try and learn to post.
I sent you what I've been sharing with agents, and if you wouldn't be opposed to contributing, we may be able to make this even better.

Hi Jordan,
Sounds intriguing. I’m interested. I sent over a colleague request.

I've gotten thousands of leads from BiggerPockets over the years without spending any extra above Premium and without ever asking for anything. If I am truly an investor-friendly agent, I don't need to advertise, people come find me.

Great topic let’s discuss !

Though I've slacked off on posting, I can tell you the secret to gaining value from Biggerpockets is adding value! Participate in the forums, post consistently. Give detailed advice about things you KNOW. I came on BP in 2009, wanting to learn about the market in southern CA where we had just moved, and trying to determine where there was a niche for us on business. I found so many good people willing to share what they knew. I realized there were a lot of people I could share what I knew with, on real estate, construction,, new spec building, etc. I loved it and was addicted. Soon Joshua and Brandon asked if I'd moderate. Of course I was thrilled, being the first female moderator. I've been here since. Love this group of people. I started a meetup in southern CA, then another in Bend, OR. Both are still going, run by other BP members! The generosity, and breadth of knowledge on this site is like nothing else anywhere! Be helpful, don't worry about what you'll get out of it.
