Looking for advice on running a contracting biz in rust belt city (upstate NY)

We've purchased and done a number of gut rehabs over the last few years, successfully tackling all kinds of challenges (structural, hazards, mechanical, leaks, etc.), acting as GC's, bringing in trades, and doing many aspects ourselves. If we expand to serving clients (beyond our own projects), I'd greatly appreciate advice from any others that have gone in that direction.

We're considering handyman and full-service (even offering architect, engineering if needed)

What key things elevated you above competition?

what is most effective way to advertise/market to get clients?

How far do you try to be booked for work (at a minimum)?

Do you have min/max project sizes?

What crew size(s) and operations teams do you have/recommend and how does it typically scale?

Worker's comp costs have really scared me from going this route, appreciate any advice here as well.

What challenges should I be aware of?
