NOOB here. How to deal with squatters or occupants after buying..

I'm looking into REO and auctions but one thing that is holding me back is having to deal with squatters or occupants who are foreclosed on. I heard this can be a nightmare. I'm also noticing a lot of real estate listings that indicate the buyer would have to deal with squatters on their on. Very foreign to me and would like your feedback.

Thanks!

Britt

@Britt Smith they become holdover tenants. You will have to evict them according to the laws in your jurisdiction. You can always offer cash for keys. You have to build in the eviction and the state of the interior in making your bids.

You always walk the property on your way to closing. Not the day before and definitely not the week before. You’ll be able to tell if anyone is staying there. After closing you change the locks with the ones you brought to closing.
