James Wise Clayton Morris Trailer video
For all of you who did not catch this Trailer video that James posted on U Tube I was able to watch it..
I found it well done. And was even more amazed that Jim got Clayton on the phone all the way from Portugal.
other than a few F bombs by both parties.. it was and is well done.
Even a little Cameo from myself LOL..
Jim has gotten videos and audio testimony from industry experts and actual victims as well as when you see it a phone call with Clayton himself.. I am not sure if there is more Audio on Clayton that I saw on the trailer.
But suffice it to say.. it was Vintage Morris IE just pretty much exactly how his wife portrays them as victims.
Clayton goes on to mention other Indy providers that were in the same mess with Whalen .. And then proceeds to question Jim's investigative reporting bona fides.. And Clayton wanted to know what business was it of Jim's to be doing this at all. And Clayton mentioned me as well as I have been from the very first post pretty straight forward that the model as sold by Morris even if all the rehab funds had not been diverted and you had ponzi like rental payments being made , that the model is and was flawed from day one and would never have worked as he described..
The big one though was When Jim says to Clayton " But dude your in Portugal how does that make you look" no answer..
For sure one thing is certain he is no dummy and I am sure he talked to many lawyers about where he could go to avoid massive litigation and potential criminal and then set up shop and keep selling whatever he is selling to new folks.
U still see it on any social media when his wife gets on and does the Poor this is not fair to Clayton or I routine.. there will be 50 people singing their praise.. Of course I Bet not one of them lost their entire life's savings like one of the investors that Jim had interviewed and is on the trailer..
I commend Jim for his work in this .. It will have benefits throughout the industry showing and teaching people about OOS investing and being led by someone with a lot of fame but no real estate experience to speak of...
Lastly this is a sad case Morris with his background could have been one of the larger resellers of rentals in the US no doubt right up there with the other big resale companies we all know about.. And I can tell you from first hand experience all those other resale companies ran into the same thing Morris did.. but the difference is they realized it quickly and cut off those bad actors by and large.
@Jim K.@James Wise Jim I tagged you on accident but in reality you could write the how to book on how to navigate those lower end assets.
@Jay Hinrichs Wow. Thank you for the explanation. I didn't have any of the facts or background.
In fact, I told him the same thing years ago when I heard he was selling D properties. He clearly didn't want to listen or hear the truth. Or maybe he knew the truth and like you said, couldn't give up the easy money.
You can make money doing nearly anything. Why not do it ethically? And create a long lasting business that helps people succeed, and in so doing, you succeed as well.
Over the years I've had so many slicksters try to get me in on their crappy deals. They would tell me the same thing - buy a property for $5k, sell it on seller financing for $20k or more to an investor and then the investor seller-finances to the homeowner. "Do no rehab. It's so easy!" I would look at them and say, "Are you crazy? How is that a good deal for the investor? What is my value-add if I create no value? I think they think they are wholesaling, but to investors. And investors do not have the same protections as consumers (people buying their primary home.). So when the investor sell-refinances to the homeowner under this model, the original wholesaler is not on the paper trail. It's just the new investor on the hook for selling garbage to a consumer - and they get in trouble.
I've been battling these type of fraudsters my whole career. They sneak into our events and try to get our members to buy their garbage behind my back. One actually came to our event and said, "Can I offload some of my non-performing properties to your people? I'll pay you well." I had him escorted out. So many sharks. I keep trying to teach people how to wear shark-proof suits before diving in, but the message needs to get louder and to a broader audience. That's my mission!

YUP, bad actors come and go.. length and stability is a sign of a good organization.. Although I do believe some of the out of state investors do have somewhat unrealistic expectations regarding the properties POST close and how they perform.. Tenants are Tenants and you can control 100% of them. there are going to be some bumps in the road and washed out bridges :)
@James Wise
I looked for the trailer, couldn’t find it but I did watch my first video of yours... tenant from hell #8 Cadillac Escalade. Good stuff, I’m eager to see more of your videos. And we need to trade company hoodies, I like the HW black one. :)

Since you can't link and the vid shows up as posted on 10/3, here's what you search for on youtubz: "Is Fox News Anchor Clayton Morris A FRAUD? - Landlords From Hell 2 - Trailer"
@James Wise - I think the judge will commend you on a job well done and will recommend that the prosecutor & FBI hire you as an investigative journalist for RE scams. You probably got more out of him then those investigating him.

Full Length film is now live. Let me know your thoughts. We've got a lot of ground to cover to discuss this one.
Classic "be fearful when others are greedy" situation. And what's Natali's involvement in all this? She's the one that was on a BP episode a while back.. we should go back and have a listen.
@James Wise, @Jay Hinrichs, Clayton seems to have a financial freedom website. I am guessing he still needs 'dough'? Is Portugal really that expensive?
It's only $697. Are you guys gonna be buying? ;-) I need to start a financial freedom website so I can be financially free!

Yea I think he's been selling that stuff for awhile. From the general public's perspective him selling $700 programs is probably a lot safer than him selling turnkey real estate lol.

I didn't see the Podcast but I believe it was Clayton Morris who appeared on the Bigger Pockets Podcast. When it became apparent that something wasn't right Bigger Pockets removed the episode.
