Question about homes that have an auction date in LA

If an owner in Los Angeles already has an auction date is there a cut off date that they can make arrangements to sell the house themselves?

Also, if it us up for auction can I make two assumptions: 1. its due to delinquent taxes and 2. I can get the exact amount owed from the count assessors office?
