I'm an investor in Columbia, SC. I'm looking into turning one of my properties into a Section 8 rental. I know in MD, you can't lease to family under section8. My question is whether or not there is any restrictions against leasing to a family member under section 8 in SC? If there is a restriction, is there a way around it? Such as having the property under my LLC so my name doesn't show as owner, etc. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You cannot rent - under Section 8 - to a family member:  "The housing authority prohibits you from renting from a relative under the Section 8 program. You can't rent from your father, mother, siblings, children, grandparents, grandchildren or any other member of your family."

Thank you for your response. I wasn’t sure if that was state by state or a national guideline.
