What is the Best Job to Learn About Real Estate Investing?

Hi Everyone!

I live in New York City and renting properties is one of the investment strategies I am interested in.  I want a salaried position that will help me earn while learn about renting properties.  I would like to assist a property manager in some way like as a Lease Administrator.  

However, because I am interested in other areas of real estate investing, would work as a research associate or valuation associate to learn about commercial real estate, in general, but I think that is for brokers/agents.  

Should I stick with property management or learn about commercial real estate? 

I would appreciate any input.
