"Standard agreements" written for/by/in-favor of providers only

The "standard agreements" that the service providers (realtors, accountants, dentists, beauty centers, etc.) ask clients to sign are extremely lopsided (i.e. only in the service providers' favor). We cannot have a lawyer by our side at all times. How can I protect myself as a client?

@Addy Cash

You need that attorney to review as many of these agreements are nuts

That depends. How many times have you had an attorney review and try to negotiate the terms of use when you install an app on your phone? Or get a new credit card? Negotiations and legal reviews are still a thing and we all swim in the same fish bowl. I use legal mainly to better understand what I am getting into. Then either negotiate if lopsided or move on to another provider that is willing to be more mutual
