Where do I hire a CPA? 2 rentals in Tucson, lived in NYC, now TN

Long time listener, first time forum poster!

I bought 2 houses on 1 property in AZ in July. I made a long term rental in the bigger house and an AirBnB in the smaller house.

I lived in NYC until November, and then moved to Knoxville, TN.

My CPA for years has been in NYC. Do I find a CPA in AZ that would know those housing laws? Will they not be able to help because they’re not licensed in TN? Do I have to find someone in TN because that’s where I live now?

If you are happy with the NYC CPA, then by all means stick with him/her. Otherwise, find one that is real estate centric, regardless of location.

Tennessee does not have an individual income tax so you have no filing obligation there unless you have an entity doing business in TN.

Tax focused CPA's will normally focus their attention on tax laws instead of housing laws.
You may have to hire an attorney to get a better understanding of housing laws.
