Using Fidelity self directed IRA

Has anyone been able to invest in RE using a Fidelity self directed IRA?

I want to invest in a private placement, but Fido says I can only buy from their list (I can ask them to vet a pp for their list, but you need at least $1 mm with them).

I would love to be able to diversify my retirement funds, as I'm overexposed to stocks and bonds.

I work on Wall Street, so my only account options are with Fidelity or with my employer, who is even more limited in options.

Thanks!
