Hey all you helpful people, I was listening to recent podcast and heard where the the person being interviewed said (early in the podcast) that he had found an app that you could send in estimated tax payments for 1099 income. Does anyone use the app or know what it is called? I recently started a side hustle where the tax implications are 3k per 2 weeks and I don't want to (**cough**) up that much money in quarterly payments. Anybody?
I'm not sure what the app was called, but I would be very careful using any app that isn't explicitly approved by the IRS.
The potential for tax ID theft and estimate payment fraud is too high.
The tried and true methods are: (1) pay estimated payments online via the IRS website or (2) mail in a voucher with check or money order.
Also I'm confused by your last sentence...
Changing the payment method doesn't change how much you made or what your estimated tax payment should be...
@Eamonn McElroy I found IRS2Go app from IRS.gov website. I just don’t want to pay potential 15k-25k quarterly. Could send it in every time I get paid.
