Mortgage Interest Deduction during Improvements
I bought a home in January with the intent of fixing up the basement to airbnb. I started renting the basement out in July after improvements were finished. I know I can deduct the portion of the mortgage interest (related to the basement only) for the 6 months after I started renting it. However, can I deduct the mortgage interest for the entire year (i.e., including the interest I incurred while improvements were being made)?
