Hey BP Community.
I was presented with a deal recently that seemed too good to be true. After some research we found the property has a lien since 2018 and fines totaling roughly $45,000 (and growing). The deal can still make sense, bit it got me thinking... is it ever the case that a municipality would agree to settle large code enforcement fines like this?
Your experiences and insights are greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

Yes, every day. How much depends on the municipality. Here it ranges from 10-60% of the accrued amount. Usually, they’ll waive the daily fines, but not any actual costs.
