Private money lenders, as opposed to hard money lenders, don't advertise and don't have a "business", they're private individuals who lend money to individuals for real property investments. Many hard money lenders such as myself sometimes call ourselves private lenders, but I don't think that's what you're referring to. To find these individuals you would need to network. The best source imo would be to connect with the providers of self directed retirement accounts as their clients are always looking for higher yielding investments often outside "formal" investment channels. Just GOOGLE self directed IRA and begin contacting the companies listed, telling them you'd like to connect with any of their account holders who have expressed an interest in making private mortgage loans. Check on Bigger pockets under lender for your local area. That's the best way to find some local lenders that can work with you.
