Beach badge requirements on LBI are worth checking before deciding where to go. There is no single badge for the whole island. LBI’s six municipalities have separate programs, so the town matters.
Age rules differ too. Barnegat Light, Harvey Cedars, Surf City and Long Beach Township start at age 12. Ship Bottom and Beach Haven start at 13. Beach Haven also does not require badges on Wednesdays during its season.
Some town names can cause confusion. Beach Haven Terrace and North Beach Haven are part of Long Beach Township, not Beach Haven Borough. Long Beach Township notes that badges bought for the wrong municipality cannot be exchanged.
Checking the municipality before buying can save owners, renters and guests from changing plans after arriving.
Knowing the beach badge requirements on LBI beforehand makes deciding where to go easier.
