Solid handyman support for Chicago area?

Kuriakos Mellos

Hi all!  I have not had any luck on finding consistent and reliable handy men who are investor friendly in the Chicago area (who will also not drain you.)  Any help?  Thanks!

@Kuriakos Mellos handymen are like gold. I would start at your local meetups and also by referral. I have never found anyone who is willing to put their handyman on a forum since these guys also tend to get massively overbooked quickly. I have six guys who make my business go, and I found all of them by referral at meetups. I do my best to treat my contractors well since they are literally the life blood of my business.

@Kuriakos Mellos

I recently used "Fixer" for a handyman job and they did a good job but a bit expensive ($139/hr). I found them on the Thumbtack app.

@Paul De Luca i've used Fixer before for emergencies but trying to be a bit more cost conscious this time around.

@John Warren my main guy is out in South Carolina (who is awesome) for at least 6 months so trying to find someone new has been..um..a challenge.  Everywhere else I am golden but just do not have good luck in the city itself.

Hey @Kuriakos Mellos - where are you located? I have found some pretty solid handyman on Facebook groups.

@Kuriakos Mellos - If you find one pay them good and treat them like a king.  Any solid handyman especially in Chicago is hard to find.  What area is your property in?

I may have a couple of referrals that may be a good fit depending on scope and location.

@Kuriakos Mellos - I know of a decent company called handiCo that will work up in Andersonville.  They are probably a bit more on the expensive side but a least you are getting someone that you know can handle the job.

I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for.  Mainly, because I have learned that the hard way over and over again.
