Rescreening inherited tenants
So, my brother and I are buying our first duplex, closing just before the year ends. We are beyond excited. We are inheriting tenants whose leases expire at the end of January, and have no reason to believe that they don’t pay on time. Someone suggested that we re-screen our tenants prior to renewing their leases: employment, credit app, background check, the works. What are your thoughts on this practice?
