Hey BP community!
I am replacing a broken garbage disposal from previous tenant, and I've heard simply uninstalling them can be a better option. Tenants may not care what goes into them and end up breaking them- knowing it will be fixed for them. In my area it is not super standard to have one, but it is obviously a nice addition. I can install them myself, so my question would be is it worth the approx. $150 up front cost then whatever time and replacement costs I have in the future? Sounds like it's not worth it, but I'd love to get y'all's feedback.
@Caleb Anderson If you have one already I would replace it. It is a nice to have. They don't fail very often in my experience.
You would have to take care of the unused wiring to the disposal. You will have to cap off the pipe and you will have a switch that no does nothing.
Why do things to downgrade your property? I always look for ways to make improvements.
