Where do I start to find buyer for 7 acres of the 10 acres with home I want to purchase? Has anyone ever done this? What is cost of separating the properities and how do I find out if all utilities are available? I am in Missouri, about 30 minutes out of St. Louis.

Hi Cathy, Call the county clerk's office in your county and talk to them about the process. They usually have it lined out pretty well and can walk you through what you need to do. First you'll have to check (prior to purchase) if you can split it out and what kinds of zoning are available in that particular area. If your deal depends on you being able to sell the land, maybe put a clause in the contract for purchase that if you're unable to obtain county permission to parcel out the land, then you can walk away.
