Paint peeling on tin ceiling above room furnace

Hey folks,

So I have ceiling paint that is peeling after a a few years on a tin ceiling above the gas heater.  I am assuming because the tin is expanding to the point of cracking the paint.  Is there a better product to use?  I'm using Behr latex based ceiling paint, but there are several layers underneath of unknown composition.

The labor involved in removing the multiple layers of existing paint is such that is not a practical option as the unit is occupied.

Thanks in advance for any tricks/tips.
