Hi Everyone!

I remember seeing in the news a while ago that Scottsdale was concerned about vacation rentals in the area. Does anyone have any experience with their rental properties in Scottsdale? Are they allowing AirBNB? Short term rentals? Thank you!

Google it and here's what you'll find:  https://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/c...

Don't rely on others for such critical information; it's readily available and so important to the success of your potential acquisition.

I have a lot of experience with vacation rentals in Scottsdale. Started buying dedicated short term rental homes in 2017, although I sold all of them around when the pandemic started.

Scottsdale is still allowing short term rentals at this time. Last I knew there were literally thousands of homes rented house on airbnb in Scottsdale. I recommend you have a conversation with one of the bigger property managers in town. Good Night Stay does a ton in Scottsdale.

@Scott E. Great, thank you! Do you have a recommendation on a property manager?

Hey Cassandra! It seems like they are pretty heavily... I have a few friends who have been investing in STR's a lot. I would recommend calling the city and talk to business department or planning and zoning. They will have the answer to what it currently is and where its heading, if not them then they will point you in the right direction. Is your goal to buy a STR?

@Michael Porche I am weighing my options. I have not decided if I should do STR or long term (1 year) tenants. I have been to Scottsdale many times and I enjoy it as a vacation spot (I am on the east coast) so I was thinking it would be a good place for a STR.

I have stayed at a STR in Scottsdale and will again......found it to be a really fun place! If you can in any way get a STR going there I think that would be the ultimate for you......tons more $$, no tenant issues.....

Whats allowed for STR in Scottsdale??

If so its is a big big big issues right now.  I sit on a board for policy in scottsdale you should join https://scottsdalestra.org/

City of Scottsdale all is make a private task force just for STR so may need to be extra careful with the neighbords who hate up.

Hope this helps reach out if needed

I would stay away from Good Night Stay they have a very bad history in Scottsdale right now. I know a bunch of great managers.  I also keep homeowners to be host if you need and if the home is right I do some hosting

Thanks @John Hildebrand ! I knew there were some issues but I didn't know to what extent. Is the private task force meant to just address if there is noise or is it targeting the STRs?

I am happy to chat offline I have been out here trying to protect all these rights for the last few years.  I still have 7 rentals in Scottsdale and all over them stay very busy with great cash flow.  Just a right way to run them and a wrong way.  But there is a lot of policy you must have in place before you can start renting.  If you join that website its free will really help you with some info.  You can reach out to me we can chat offline what are your goals
