Lake Norman, Mooresville, NC - In contract for our first STR!!!

Hey all!

It is with super excitement that I share that my wife and I are in contract for our first investment home that we intend to rent out on a short-term rental basis. The property is located on the beautiful Lake Norman in Mooresville, NC. The property is located just 30 minutes north of Charlotte and just a few minutes off of I-77. The property is a SFH outside of any HOA and we are purchasing from the original owners of 30 years. The property can use a little TLC, but not much at all. I am a contractor by trade and will be doing any renovations myself quickly to get the property listed for use ASAP.

I would love to speak with people in the Lake Norman area that are currently renting on a short term basis and learn from what you are doing.  Thanks to all who comment or reach out!

Jason - Beautiful Property! I spent a lot of time on Lake Norman during my college days at Davidson (just down the road from you!). Lot's of beautiful homes out there! How has this been performing for you so far?

We’re not listed for bookings yet, just started the reno today!!

Jason - Curious to see if you've completed the reno and have started to take bookings. 

Currently I'm in the Dallas market but considering making the move into NC to get into an STR in LKN or possibly another lake in the area.

Any insight?

 Congratulations!  Best of luck on the reno!  Would you recommend the realtor you used?  I'm considering investing in two properties this year in the NC/triad area and Mooresville is very compelling to me.

Thanks @Jason Harty! Looks really nice! I am not sure if you are looking for notes or not, but I would add more art to the wall in the bedrooms. Splashes of color to liven up the space.

Thanks! We have added some art recently. We’ll be reshooting the property later this year.

Congratulations!!! My husband and I are looking to do the same thing, however neither of us are contractors :-) that's great you have that skill. Do you mind sharing more of your journey? I've been so overloaded with info since starting with the BP community..should I do a STR, LTR, etc...seems STR are most profitable. Is that why you went with it? Also, did you do it all yourself using things like Airdna, or did you have a coach guide you? Thanks for the posting the numbers in the deal too, that was helpful!
