Washer & Dryer for a 3BR 3BA STR
Hi everyone!
Given these details on my STR:
3BR, 3BA
1st BR - bunk (twin and full), sheets and comforter
2nd BR - Queen, sheets and comforter
3rd BR - King, sheets and comforter
3BA - shower and hand towels
What size washer and dryer would you recommend ideally?
Also, I understand one load is the goal for turn-around, but realistically do owners do two or more loads assuming the specs above?

Hi!
I recommend Samsung, any Samsung. They usually have closeout deals like this:

Whatever you get do not go cheap! Cheap ones will break down on you from the constant use.

Hey @Eric Nguyen, this is close to what we have. 2 queens, 4 twins and a king plus 3 bathrooms worth of towels.
We have a Maytag 4.5cuft washer and the matching dryer which is 7.0cuft. If you find a deal on a 5.0cuft washer and matching dryer, bigger is always nicer. Ours are front loaders. More efficient overall.
Having multiple sets of sheets for each bed is a must. We have 8 queen sets, 4 king sets and 4 for each twin. That way if things get messy, you can just swap the sheets and either take them home to do or wait until the next break in guests to get them back in rotation.
Towels as well. I have dozens of bath, hand and wash cloths. Enough to do 3 back to backs and not wash a stitch. Comforters are the same, 6 queen, 4 king and 3 for each twin.
The breakdown for washing would be towels first. Most are white to they usually all go in one load. Then colored towels (kitchen, beach and dog) one load. We split the sheets up as well. The queens all go in one load. The king and all the pillowcases in one load. Mix in the twins. So for us it is usually 3-5 loads.
Our house is 2700sqft so it take all of 5 hours to flip it, which is usually enough to do the loads.

Extra large capacity.
You have sheets, towels, bath mats, comforters.
This is multiple loads.
I would think with that size even a large size would still require 2 loads. I use white for linens and towels but my duvet covers are different patterns. So it would be 2 loads regardless if you are the same (for bleach purposes). We currently have a cleaner that does our linens off site and we just have extra sets of each and it works great. Hope that helps you.

As for brands, take a look at Yale Appliance's blog. It is excellent and covers their actual repair stats by brand. They are a huge shop in Boston so the data is solid.

Large size for sure anyway. But you don't want to rely on getting the laundry done from the previous guest. You will want to have enough on site in your linen closet to replenish everything without doing laundry right then, too much pressure...what if a guest leaves late and the new one is coming in an hour?

This is great advice. Puts me at ease already!
And thank you everyone for being helpful!

That's why I have more STRs than all my fingers and toes. I have all of them, by the way. That's 20 for you 'tards that are not good with mathematics and biology.
@Eric Nguyen I would go full sized Samsung! You can find some at the lowes outlet store in Monrovia on the cheap!
I have the extra large capacity washer and dryer. In my biggest house, I wish I had two of each like Paul has. That said, I am a ‘tard with a biology degree, who doesn’t know how to plumb them myself. :D
