This advice is for Alabama only. Other states might have similar services, though.

Many people ask me how they can monitor what is going on with eviction or other lawsuits being handled by their attorneys.  Others want to e-file their own lawsuits, without time consuming trips to the courthouse. The Alabama Administrative Office of Courts has some tools that can help you.

You can have unlimited access to view all court documents for the entire lifetime of a lawsuit with a one-time fee (per lawsuit) of $19.99 for District Court cases such as evictions, or $29.99 for Circuit Court cases. More info and sign up is HERE At that same link, you can sign up for “just one look” for only $9.99, if you want to look once, and then won’t need to do it again.

If you want to be able to file lawsuits and other documents online, and receive email notice of things filed by the other side (just like the lawyers) then you can use the AlaFile service. You must register. The link is HERE These two services are completely separate from each other.
