New STR Investor looking for mentorship and guidance

I'm Jimmy. I am new to the STR community but am excited to learn and close my first deal before I overthink it :D. I recently finished readung Short-Term Rental Long-Term Wealth and got so much out of the book. I am sold on investing in short term rentals so my next step is identifying the market getting connected with a Realtor. I have read the first one is the hardest and so I am looking for folks who might be willing to mentor me through this process as I go through it the first time. I have little to offer other than that I will be a sponge and I promise to pay it forward in the future. Excited to be part of this community and to meet you all.

Reading that book is a great first step. Next step is to talk with a lender and see what you can afford. Then you can start looking in markets that meet those criteria. Being from SoCal, I recommend being about 2-3 hours away from your first short term rental in case you have to go to it for any reason, and you can enjoy it when it is vacant. So maybe, Joshua Tree, Big Bear or Palm Springs. Let’s connect!
