New to Property Investing and wanting to begin my journey into real estate
At 27 and 25, my wife and I are at a point in life where we’re starting to think more seriously about the future—not just financially, but the kind of life we want to build together.
Like a lot of couples, we dream about raising a family, being present for our kids, and creating a life centered around what truly matters. But we’ve come to realize something: that kind of life doesn’t just happen—it’s built intentionally.
That’s what led us to real estate investing.
We both currently work full-time jobs, and we’re grateful for them. But we’ve also recognized the limitations that come with trading time for money.
We started asking ourselves some simple but powerful questions:
- What would life look like if we didn’t feel tied to a paycheck?
- What if we could create income that gives us options instead of limitations?
- What if we could build something now that gives us freedom later?
Real estate stood out as a path that could help us get there.
Our biggest goal is this: In the next 5 years, we want to build enough of a real estate portfolio so my wife has the option to stay home with our future kids.
That one goal drives everything else.
But as we’ve talked through it, we’ve realized it’s about more than just that one milestone. It’s about the lifestyle behind it.
Here’s what we’re really working toward:
- Having the ability for my wife to stay home with our kids
- Being able to give like no one else—to family, to friends, and to people in need
- Feeling less stress around finances instead of constantly worrying about money
- Creating more freedom in how we spend our time
- Building a life with flexibility, not one that feels locked in
That’s the bigger picture for us.
We’re just beginning this journey, and one of the reasons I’m sharing this is because we know we don’t have all the answers yet.
If you’ve walked this path before—or are currently on it—we’d love to learn from you.
Here are a few of the questions we’re thinking through right now:
- - For those who’ve built rental portfolios while working full-time… what helped you scale effectively without burning out?
- - How did you determine how many properties or how much cash flow you needed before one spouse could step away from work?
- - What are some mistakes you made early on that you wish you could avoid?
- - If your goal was to create freedom, flexibility, and less financial stress, what would you focus on first?
- - And for those balancing marriage and investing… how did you stay aligned as a couple throughout the process?
We’re not looking for shortcuts. We’re not expecting overnight success.
We’re committed to learning, taking action, making mistakes, and growing over time.
Most importantly, we’re committed to each other and the vision we’re building together.
If anyone is in the Tulsa Area, I would love to connect and explore what the market looks like with someone with experience.
Thank you for your time!
