Newbie from Melbourne Australia

I am currently located in Melbourne, Australia.I'm a real estate investor currently involved in the Northern Indiana area (Hammond, East Chicago, and surrounds). I am looking to expand my real estate portfolio and connect with other investors, both in Australia and the United States!

I own my home here in Melbourne Australia, free and clear. I owned an investment property in Brisbane Australia for three years and eventually sold it back in 2010, due to the fact that it was negatively cash flowed and I lost my job due to illness so was unable to keep up the payments. I now invest in the USA as it's easier to find positive cash flow deals, and the lower entry price makes it a lot easier to get involved! I purchased my first rental property in the states in 2013, a 2Br, 1bath single family home in Hammond, IN.

I am currently involved in wholesaling as a means to build up my cash reserves in order to be able to purchase more rental properties. Ultimately I would like to be able to generate over $3000 per month in passive income, which would be enough to cover my living expenses and allow me to become financially independent.

Looking forward to getting involved in the Bigger Pockets community! :)

@Sarah Cox Welcome!!! I am from Adelaide but now I live in San Diego and will be visiting Hammond to look at a few turnkey properties in August! So nice to see a fellow Aussie on here. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!

Wow!  I'm so impressed by you, @Sarah Cox !  I know a lot of people who would never consider buying property outside of their area, much less their own country.  Best wishes to your continued success!

Welcome to BP @Sarah Cox

I'm a newbie from Chicago who is learning to buy and hold multi-family properties. The BP community is very friendly and the forums are informative. Looks like your off to a great start. I wish you success in your REI career!

Welcome @Sarah Cox

Sounds like you are doing great and making it happen, good for you!

I am an Aussie living in Indiana. I've been here for 10yrs almost to the day. It's great to see Aussie's on BP and taking advantage of affordable real estate in the US :)

Best wishes and happy investing!

Welcome @Sarah Cox !

I've worked with several Aussies that buy Indianapolis RE.  As you've found out, the process is easier that some make it to be.

Let me know if you need any assistance in Indy.
