Newbie in Oceanside, Ca

Hello Bigger Pockets, I'm Gregory. I come from south Florida but have been living out in Oceanside California for the past 6 years. I'm currently on active duty and am looking to break into this industry of real estate investing. Specifically house hacking. I first found out about Bigger Pockets through The Book on Rental Property Investing a few months ago and have been obsessively reading and listening to podcasts ever since. Growing up in South Florida I have known people to own and rent Vacation homes and make a good living doing so. That has always intrigued me. Instead of learning and going into that business after college though I decided to enlist in the military. That was 6 years ago. Recently I came to the realization that I will need to get out of the military at some point and should be preparing for that. Which brings me to where I am today. I began researching Vacation rentals which led me to Bigger Pockets. From there I dug deeper and came to the conclusion that instead of vacation rentals I could buy and hold properties while renting to annual tenants which would be more suited to my current situation. I am actively looking for my first investment property in Southern California. The closer to Oceanside the better because I would like it to double as my personal residence as well. From everything I'm reading it's hard to find multi family homes around her so I am exploring all options. Bigger Pockets has already been extremely helpful and I have only scratched the surface. I look forward to learning all I can from the community and members and hope to someday be able to give back as much as I received.
