Where to Invest Outside of New York City?

Hello everyone,

I am looking to invest outside of New York City, as prices are relatively high. I would like to find a location that provides possible equity growth and decent cash flow. Also, it would have to be close. Any suggestions, resources that I can look into? 

Lastly, are there any other sites outside of Zillow to find homes?
