Welcome to BP Yan! Do you have any experience with rental properties? What kind of properties are you looking for (sing family vs multifamily, residential or commercial, etc)?

@Yan Calvin Tampubolon Welcome to BP. Have you filled out the keyword alert yet? That should help you narrow down your focus. Also, snoop around on here and you'll find all kinds of info. Remember, everybody starts someplace! Just start building your foundation. Good luck!

Hi Calvin,

I know this is about a year late but I am in the same area and I bought my first investment about a year ago.  It's a upstairs/downstairs duplex and my wife and I live upstairs while renting the down.  I'm currently trying to figure out how to get the funding for a second property.  Currently my strategy is to read as much as I can so I can learn as much as I can.  While doing this I will keep paying down debt and saving.  Hopefully I will be able to make another deal within the next 1-2 years.

Welcome to Biggerpocket!

We are buy and hold investors with full time jobs. We buy class A properties that we self-manage. I love the central valley while more expensive than Charleston, the low taxes and insurance. While the numbers are meeting the 1%, 2%, or 50% rule they are still great for our investing strategy.

Definitely check out the blogs, podcast and forums. Another great source of information is individual blogs found in peoples signatures. Many of us including myself write about our niche. The only thing we all agree about is investing in Real Estate. Beyond that there are many different style and types of investing. My blog/website is about long distance self management, landlording, investing in class A investments, investing in a transient lifestyle, etc.

Good Luck ! Look forward to seeing you around!

Hey @Yan Calvin Tampubolon welcome to BP! I like how you put that you're starting from zero. Don't worry everyone starts from there. Check out the Learn tab above to get started. I recommend the beginner's guide.
