Calling all Connecticut Investors / Residents,
I am starting a CT brain dump forum here on BP. Idea of this is to have all CT investors, agents, lenders, accountants, attorneys etc. drop any CT knowledge they have!
Can be anything CT related but to help you out I'm looking for things like:
Where you invest
What you invest in
CT deals you have made in past/present and looking to make in future
What your profession is if not an investor and services you offer in CT
New towns/areas you are excited about
Meet ups that you host, attend or want started
This list is limitless I think you get the point, which is, one spot for us CT BP users to go to connect with others in CT, get up to date CT info, and get to know each other!
Looking forward to hearing from you all! Again, if you've got anything CT related, dump that knowledge on us!
All the best,
Phelim

Thanks Phelim Lennon for starting this post. I think it is needed, especially for a newbie like myself.
It would be nice to have a meeting of the minds of investors alike here from BP to have a get together.
I am interested in connecting with a few realtors and wholesalers in around southeast corner of CT. The goal is to grow a trusting, professional relationship that will last.
I have not pulled the trigger yet. I am still not comfortable with the small funds that I have.
My model is to fix-and-flip to raise capital and move onto BRRRR
I'm currently looking to invest in much of New London County up to the southern end of Windham County and eventually strolling into Washington County, RI
For anyone that has been paying attention to the merging of Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun starting a casino in Hartford area. I'm looking for what people think on how that could effect REI's. They both seem to build over night. If and when they decide on a specific location, "us" REI's will have to act fast. I am also wonder what people's thoughts are on how it will effect the surrounding towns of their existing casinos.
Thanks, Andrew

What areas of CT commute to NYC? If any?

Hi @Jared Delaney - several CT towns commute into NYC daily, in particular those where Metro North train access is convenient and that is primarily Fairfield County. New Haven County has Metro North trains, though realistically most people from NH County are not commuting into NYC for work - though the train service is certainly a meaningful value-add for many prospective tenants.
Some CT towns with high NYC commuting:
Fairfield
Westport
SouthPort
Norwalk
Darien
New Canaan
Stamford
Cos Cob
Greenwich
Danbury & Bethel
Even Bridgeport CT for some.

Thanks for starting the thread! Started following and looking forward to hearing from the seasoned investors.
Currently looking for a great (fair prices, comes in on time and under budget when possible, good project manager) contractor for multi family rehab work in the New Haven area. If anyone wants to brain dump some names or contacts I'd really appreciate it!!

Hi, I'm a newbie too. I just put in my first offer on a house I plan on wholesaling . Waiting to hear if I got it.
I'm interested more in flipping but need upfront funding for title search, points, insurance...I'm figuring around $10000 . I'm looking into hard money for the mortgage. I work from home selling comcast cable , web design and interior design so my schedule is flexible and will allow me to do all the legwork put in some sweat equity as well as I can paint, tile, hire contractors...Anyone interested in doing a flip with me?

I own a cleaning business in New Haven and also a real estate agent. My cleaning business services commercial and residential clients. I host a monthly New Haven Real Estate Investors meetup. Our next meeting is tomorrow, April 12 from 7-9pm at Elm City Social in downtown New Haven.
Thanks for making this thread!

Great post - I'm fairly new to BP & REI as well. Looking to do BRRRR deals in Hartford County. One of the things that this area seems to lack is a good meetup. Fairfield County has one, but I can never muster the energy to drive an hour each way after work to attend. Would be very interested in starting one somewhere in the West Hartford vicinity.

@Ken Colwell . There is one that just started in Manchester. @Jacob Reilly started it with some others, and although I have yet to go, I am always invited, and will end up there one of these days. I have heard some the of minutes from the meetups, and it sounds like everyone gets something out of them. I am a broker and investor in Hartford County, so if you have any needs in Hartford County, please feel free to reach out any time. I represent investors and owners (we do property management as well), as well as home buyers and sellers in the area. I leave Fairfield County up to those experts! That's the one county I won't touch in CT, but have dealt with all the others.. There are a lot of them out on BP that are highly experienced.
