Hello BP & other Wisconsinites/Madisonians,
I've tried a few different CPA's for tax prep the past few years and haven't been thrilled with their RE knowledge, but am now looking for a qualified tax strategist. Specifically, I'm looking for somebody who has experience with RE tax strategies around the RE Professional designation and accelerated depreciation to offset an abnormal tax liability.
Looking for a recommendation in Wisconsin, preferably Madison, but open to the Waukesha/Milwaukee area.
Thanks in advance!
Besides Daniel Hyman, Mike Fishman at Guthman Tax Services does many local investor taxes and helps them strategize as well--he is a favorite in our real estate club. I use Eric Trost from SVA and was referred to him when I first started from my mentor---he is another popular investor choice. In my experience, he knows every aspect of real estate investing, from IRA investing to company/deal structuring for best tax advantages and has helped me to structure my deals and my business in the most beneficial way. If I wasn't happy with Eric, I'd probably go with Daniel or Mike.
Thank you both! I'll look into these folks further and see who might be a good fit.
It may be a little out of your way but I have had a great experience with Marcus Meiklejohn of Meiklejohn CPA in Janesville, WI.
+1 for @Daniel Hyman
