Licensed Contractors vs Storm Chasers

Recently, we posted an article about the benefits of hiring a licensed contractor. After reading a couple of articles about “Storm Chasers” working in Arizona cities, we thought it made sense to mention that point again. Arizona has some of the best weather most of the year, but when it rains it pours, and property damage can occur.

As you decide who to hire to perform repairs on your property, follow these steps:

First: Check The Arizona Registrar of Contractors (AZ ROC)and make sure you are hiring a licensed contractor.

Second: Make sure a contract is signed between you and whoever you are working with and keep a copy of it. This will allow both parties to know what they are agreeing to.

Third: Do not pay for a project up front. Licensed contractors will not ask for you to pay for the entire project up front.

Fourth: Let the AZ ROC know if you have an issue with a contractor. They help regulate the contractors in the state, and will investigate complaints against licensed contractors.

Remember to hire a licensed contractor in order protect yourself and your investment. “Storm Chasers” are looking to make some quick cash, and may leave before the job gets done. AZ ROC will work with people to find licensed contractors after a storm so contact them before hiring someone you do not know.
