On the go health/nutrition for the busy investor/businessman/woman
This is a little out of the box but I thought I would throw it out there anyways...
I feel a lot of times when people are going after their dreams of being a success in business and investing they often neglect a very important aspect of life, HEALTH. I believe good solid nutrition will only enhance your productivity and enjoyment of your accomplishments. So often I see people with all this money and success, but their health is deteriorating. When you reach your goals wouldn't it be a necessity to have your health so you can enjoy your achievements for a long time with your loved ones? At least I think so. So how do we achieve this with our busy life styles???

That sounds pretty cool. Can you trash talk them too?
I would need that competition to go full blast, otherwise I would just phone it in.
Haha, not sure but I hope so! Ill let you know if I decide to do it and I will not let you down with my trash talking (the same likely won't be true of my rowing).
I heard busier lifestyle makes one live longer!
Concept2 seems to be 'gold standard' out there. But supposedly noisy. I picked up Velocity Fitness Magnetic Rower from Wal-Mart. Cheaper, and so far so good. I plopped it front of TV. my goal is daily 30-45 minutes. did 5 days straight and then traveled for 4 days, but will go back. A heck of a work out. But I am heck out of shape too. There is a book you can buy with it that basically recommends doing 30 minutes a day and that's a enough to really get in a heck into shape.
Here is what can keep me going on my elliptical for an hour or more without being bored. I play Madden football on my Xbox while I do the elliptical. It takes a couple times to get your balance down, but I can literally go for over an hour where I can't go for more than 30 minute watching tv.
Madden keeps me excited and completely engaged, I don't even think about working out.
I also try to lift twice a week in my home, but I hurt my shoulder two months ago and I haven't been able to lift much at all.
I always try to stop at a grocery store instead of fast food. It doesn't take long to run in, grab some fruit, veggie jusice and maybe a sandwhich.
I'm trying to go vegan (is tough to stick to it, but I've been able to go 80% vegan). In a pot i put quinoa, a bag of mixed frozen vegetables, lots of water, 2 bay leafs, salt, pepper, olive oil, 1 lemon, black pepper, italian herbs, 1 habanero (which i pulled out later). And let it boil for 30 min or so. quinoa vegetable soup, and it was was filling (and dare I say, cheap.. must have cost me ~$3.50 for all the ingredients).
Maybe this is too much information :)
This thread helped convince me to go ahead and get the rower. I'll post a review after I have had a chance to get a few workouts in.
Your last comment put a smile on my faces James, I'm happy I made this thread! And that's a great quote Gary, exactly what I was thinking about when I made it. Motivation is tough to find and even harder to keep. I exercise twice a day, the gym in the morning (weights), then I hit the treadmill at night and my eating is pretty tight. People always ask me what my motivation is...I think it's the same feeling for business, personal life, and exercise. I never want to have that feeling of what if.. What if I applied myself more, what if I tried harder, what if I gave it my all.. Who/ what could I be right now? I'm only 25 but I know that question will haunt me later in life if I don't squash it now.. For a while I got into the juicing craze. I felt great!
But I was spending a lot of time shopping, making the juice and cleaning up. It was a hassle and I was unable to keep it up.
I recently bought a Nutri Bullet (more powerful than the related Magic Bullet) I make a veggie and fruit smoothie one or two times a day and again feel great. I am loosing weight and it is as fast as microwave food. Because of the speed and ease, of making and cleaning up, I think this is a habit I can maintain for the reset of my life. - Ned
PS anyone reading this in a month or two ask me if I am still as excited!
@Michael P. No I do not use the nutri bullet any more. My main health issue now is pre-diabetes. I am very concious of carbs. Juces tend to be high sugar and carbs.
Right now I am into intermitent fasting as that is the best way to deal with high sugar levels. But I kept using the nutri Bullet for quite a while and was happy with it. I wouldn't hestiate to use it agian if I was juicing.
