I'm in the process of getting an HO6 condo insurance policy in Miami
at 20% coverage of purchase price and with hurricane/wind coverage, and
I'm finding it difficult to get a good premium rate.
One company I reached out to doesn't offer "vacation rental" insurance, but quoted me for an annual tenant at $850/yr and a minimum 30 days (max 3 times a year) tenant for $1,730/yr. I then reached out to Geico and they quoted me at $2,730/yr, I knew it would be higher in Miami but didn't expect this much. I pay around $350/yr with Geico in NJ; I thought I would have been around $1,200/yr in Miami.
Does anyone own any STR properties in Miami, and have a good local agent/broker I can be referred to?
Should I just be telling them this condo insurance policy is just for a regular annual tenant?
Thank you!

I recommend Anakarina Callejas for Florida insurance.

@Dennis Gallof hurricanes have been driving rates up for a while. Very different market from NJ. Brokers won’t be able to do much everyone is at the mercy of the carriers.
